Pyramid Lake Sunset Session by Kourtney Teel

I have been photographing this sweet family since I first started doing photography years ago. The very first session was when Roxy was pregnant with her first, Lennox. Now they are a family of FOUR and it has been so amazing to photograph all of their milestones the past few years. They are always so fun and adventurous and dressed AMAZING for every shoot.

Pyramid is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations for a shoot. The beautiful rocks, Nevada desert and emerald blue water makes for the prettiest back drop for any photo session!

It funny how quickly life can change….. A year ago today I was 7 months pregnant with my son. I was working as a dental assistant 4 days a week and on the weekends I was scheduling photoshoots. I have worked in the dental field for about 9 years as a dental assistant, I never would have thought I would leave it. It was stable, it was familiar, and I had built some great friendships with my co-workers. I always wondered why so many mothers had such a hard time returning to work after having their babies… But, after having my son in August and going back to work again in October, I quickly empathized with all of the mamas out there who have had do this. I found myself constantly feeling that I was missing out on watching how quickly my son was growing and changing. I was busier. A LOT busier. I started cutting a lot of photography out of my life because I simply didn’t have time anymore to schedule photo shoots. Working and 8-5 job all week long was suddenly feeling straining. I missed my son. I missed doing photography. So, this past Spring I decided to take the leap and close the door on my “stable job” in the dental field and pursue what Ive always been most passionate about…. PHOTOGRAPHY.

Not only do I get to spend more time now watching my baby boy grow. But, I finally get to pour so much more of myself into my passion for photography again. I feel creative and innovative again. I get to explore, create and meet so many new people. I know without a doubt that this is what Im meant to do.

Big shout out to my amazing husband, friends and family who have been so supportive of me and for encouraging me in building this business for myself. I am so thrilled to call this my full time career and even more thrilled to see what the future holds. XO
